Wallpaper or wall printing? Which is right for your room
Short answer: For one feature wall (behind the TV, the bed, in a kids' room or pooja room), wall printing usually looks better and lasts longer. The design is printed straight onto your painted wall, so there are no seams or edges to lift in humid weather, and you can use any photo or artwork.
Wallpaper is the better choice when you want a small repeating pattern across several walls, or you live in a rented home and need to remove it when you move.
How they compare
| Wall printing | Wallpaper | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The design is printed directly on your painted wall | Printed paper or vinyl, pasted onto the wall in strips |
| The look | One seamless picture, edge to edge | Joins every 1.5 to 2 ft where strips meet |
| Your own photo or art | Yes: family photos, children's drawings, logos | Only with special custom-printed wallpaper |
| Monsoon and humidity | Nothing to peel or bubble | Seams and corners can lift or bubble over time |
| Cleaning | Wipe with a soft, damp cloth | Vinyl wipes clean; paper types stain easily |
| Time to finish | Usually a few hours, same day | Usually a day, after the wall is prepared |
| Changing it later | Paint over it, or print a new design | Peel off, repair the wall, repaint |
| Rented homes | Ask your landlord first; it stays until painted over | Peel-and-stick types come off when you move |
Which one should you choose?
Choose wall printing if…
- You want one wall that people notice
- You have a picture in mind: a family photo, a deity, your child's favourite theme, your logo
- The wall is wider than one roll and you don't want visible joins
- The room gets humid, like a ground-floor home in the monsoon
- You want it finished in a day, with no smell
Choose wallpaper if…
- You want the same small pattern on every wall of a room
- You rent and must leave the walls as you found them
- You like textured materials such as grasscloth or fabric
- You change your décor every year or two

Five tips before you decide
- Measure the wall. Width × height in feet. Send it to us with a photo.
- Check the wall. Damp patches, cracks or peeling paint need fixing first, for any finish.
- Think about light. A wall that gets strong afternoon sun suits lighter designs.
- Pick one hero wall. One printed wall usually looks richer than every wall covered.
- Try it first. Open any design in our catalogue and tap “On your wall” to see it on a photo of your own wall.
Questions
Is wall printing better than wallpaper?
For a single feature wall, usually yes: there are no seams, nothing lifts in humid weather, and you can print any photo or artwork. Wallpaper is better for repeating patterns across many walls, or for rented homes where you need to remove it later.
Does wall printing peel like wallpaper?
No. The ink becomes part of the painted wall. There's no paper and no glue, so there is nothing to peel or bubble.
Can I print my own photo on a wall?
Yes. Family photos, children's drawings, paintings and logos all work. Send the file on WhatsApp and we'll tell you how large it can go while staying sharp.
How long does a printed wall last?
Indoors, a printed wall stays bright for 7 to 10 years. You can paint over it whenever you want a change.
Can I remove a printed wall in a rented home?
It can be painted over, like any painted wall. If you rent, check with your landlord first, or choose peel-and-stick wallpaper.
